Scholarships for Graduating Seniors
Amanda Evans
Established in honor of Amanda Evans through the generosity of family, friends, and the community, this scholarship is for a graduating senior from Ephrata High School. This fund assists students who have worked hard and would benefit from financial assistance while pursuing their higher education.
Anonymous Donor
This scholarship is available to a graduating senior or graduate from Moses Lake, Ephrata, or Soap Lake High Schools. Students interested in obtaining a degree in any field dealing with the sciences including environmental, oceanic, medical sciences, or related fields are eligible. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Anonymous Donor WSU
This scholarship was established by an anonymous donor for a graduating senior from Quincy High School who will be attending WSU. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Barbara E. Cherf Memorial
Established in honor of Barbara E. Cherf, this scholarship is intended for students entering the field of nursing. Eligible students must be a graduating senior or graduate of any Grant County high school with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Becky Gillette Dunn Memorial
As an all-American girl growing up in Ephrata, Becky Gillette enjoyed her childhood surrounded by a loving family and a successful education. This memorial scholarship was established by her brothers, Doug and Allen Gillette for Ephrata High School students pursuing higher education as a legacy for their sister who lost a courageous battle with cancer. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Bernie Martin Agricultural
This scholarship was established to honor Bernie Martin's legacy as a champion in the 4-H/FFA community. Each year, two scholarships will be given to a graduating senior or graduate of Ephrata High School and one from Soap Lake, ACH, or Wilson Creek High School. Students must have been involved in 4-H or FFA and pursuing a degree in agriculture. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Bill Thornton and Ardell Filip
As community-minded citizens, animal lovers and hardworking people, Bill and Ardell established this scholarship to award a graduating senior of Ephrata High School pursuing a degree in medical or veterinary fields of studies. This scholarship is just one way they are giving back to their community. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Bob & Agnes Holloway
With a great appreciation for education and the arts, this scholarship was established by Agnes for graduating seniors from ACH, Ephrata or Soap Lake pursuing degrees in the arts, aviation or nursing. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Bob Jamison Memorial
This fund was established in 2008 by Bob's wife, Terri Jamison. Mr. Jamison was a teacher in the Moses Lake School District and the Ephrata School District. He went above and beyond his duties to provide learning experiences for his students. His co-workers admired and respected him. This scholarship is for graduating seniors who have attended classes at Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center.
Brenda Taylor Peterson Memorial
Established by her husband Stan Peterson, the Brenda Taylor Peterson Memorial will be awarded to a graduating senior or graduate of Connell or Othello High School. Students must be pursuing a degree in English or Mass Communications. Brenda had a love for writing and will be honored through this legacy scholarship. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Bryan W. Wallace
With a heart for his roots, the Bryan W. Wallace Scholarship Fund is for graduating seniors of Connell High School. Preference is given to first-generation attendees of a post-high school educational institution. Students must have a minimum 3.2 GPA.
Burton Wiig Memorial
Started by Mr. Wiig's former students and friends, this fund provides scholarships to graduating seniors or graduates of Moses Lake High School. Mr. Wiig was a teacher and counselor at Moses Lake High School for many years. He impacted many lives and was highly regarded by his students. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Calbick Alumni
This scholarship was established to assist a graduating senior or graduate of Moses Lake High School and any student who attended Moses Lake School District at some point during their K-12 education. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
CBF Agriculture Education Endowment
The Columbia Basin Foundation established this scholarship to assist students who are pursuing degrees in agriculture. Graduating seniors and college students are eligible to apply. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
CDFCU/ STCU
The CDFCU/ STCU scholarship was established to honor the legacy of the Coulee Dam Federal Credit Union and its significant contribution to the surrounding communities since 1941. In 2021, the Credit Union was purchased by STCU, and they graciously established this legacy endowment. Graduating seniors at ACH, Brewster, Bridgeport, Curlew, Grand Coulee Dam, Inchelium, Okanogan, Omak, Oroville, Pateros, Republic, Tonasket & Wilbur Creston High School are eligible for this scholarship. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Claudia Kay Rigsby Ballet
Provides scholarships to dance/ballet students who attend any institute that has a performing arts department.
Cleo & Rita Thaemert Agricultural
The Thaemert family, in conjunction with the Quincy Rotary Club, established this scholarship in 2018. Cleo & Rita Thaemert were very active in their Quincy Community and successfully established and operated Thaemert Farms. Graduating seniors from Quincy High School who are pursuing a degree in a field related to agriculture are eligible for this scholarship.
Columbia Basin Elks Lodge 1930 Harry Campbell
This scholarship was started to honor long-time Elks 1930 member Harry Campbell. Graduating high school seniors from Ephrata, Moses Lake and Moses Lake Christian Academy are eligible for this scholarship. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center
This scholarship was established by Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center to support the continuing academic goals of their students.
Dave Middleton Memorial Tiger Spirit Award
This scholarship was established by Mrs. Billie Middleton in honor of her late husband, who was the radio voice of Ephrata sports teams for a quarter of a century. Applicants must be current graduating seniors of EHS and have participated in at least one season of varsity or JV athletics or other extracurricular activity sponsored by EHS.
Deputy John Bernard Memorial
This scholarship was created by the family of Deputy John Bernard of the Grant County Sheriff's Office, Ephrata, Washington, to honor his service and dedication to the people he served. Deputy Bernard was killed in the line of duty in January 2010. Graduating seniors from any Grant County school are eligible for this scholarship. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Don & Allison Swartz
This scholarship was established by the children of Don and Allison Swartz to assist graduating seniors of Moses Lake High School or Moses Lake Christian School. Don and Allison believed in the importance of education, helping others and giving back to their community. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
DP Mickelsen Memorial
Dennis Paul Mickelsen was a beloved father and friend who was lost to cancer at the age of 54. Those who knew Denny appreciated his intelligence, integrity, and commitment to hard work. This scholarship honoring him is intended to assist an Ephrata High School graduating senior or graduate.
Dru Gimlin Memorial
A testament to a young life that ended too soon, this memorial scholarship honors the legacy of Dru Gimlin and benefits Quincy High School students. Two scholarships will be awarded, one male and one female, to graduating seniors of QHS athletes. Students must have participated in athletics for a minimum of two years, and participate in at least one sport each year. Team managers are eligible for this award. Students must have a minimum 2.8 GPA.
Edward & Victoria Tyler
With a great passion for education, the Tylers created this scholarship to assist a female graduating senior from ACH High School who is pursuing a collegiate degree in the state of Washington. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Elten Klein Memorial
Growing up on a farm, Elten Klein learned how to work from a young age. This memorial scholarship was established by his daughter, Becky Long, for ACH graduating seniors or graduates who are pursuing degrees in aviation, agriculture, or nursing. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Emily L. Hart Fine Arts
This scholarship was established in memory of Emily Hart because of her unfailing spirit and exceptional accomplishments. She touched many lives as she weathered the effects of cystic fibrosis, and left a legacy of passion for life. The Emily Hart Fine Arts Scholarship is distributed over 4 years. This scholarship is for graduating seniors of Connell High School and students must be involved in band, choir, drama, or art.
Ephrata High School Class of 1954
This fund was established by members of the Class of 1954 to provide college scholarships to Ephrata High School graduating seniors. Recipients must be well-rounded individuals, active in school and community activities who are planning to attend a four-year university. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Ephrata High School Math
Established in 1996 to assist a graduating senior from Ephrata High School who excels in math by providing a scholarship. Local businesses donated money and math team students raised money matched by the WA State Education Coordinating Board. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Erick & Marguerite Soderberg
Started by the family of Mr. and Mrs. Soderberg to honor their commitment to education, this fund provides college scholarships to graduating seniors of Moses Lake High School. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Eva L. Merrill
Established in December 2000 by Harold M. Merrill, Eva's husband, provides scholarships to graduating seniors or graduates of Curlew High School. Eva was a 50-year resident of Curlew, WA, and had a keen interest in youth activities. She was a great supporter of Curlew School and its students. Eva outlined the details of this scholarship fund before her death in 1999. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Ferne Daniel Extraordinary Effort
Established by Ferne Daniel, this scholarship is for Ephrata High School seniors who have demonstrated extraordinary effort, good citizenship, and good attendance. As a farmer’s daughter and Ephrata educator, Ferne donated her estate to charity and has impacted the lives of thousands of students and citizens throughout our state and beyond. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Fortress Blockchain (US) Holdings Corp.
Established in 2022, the Fortress Blockchain Holdings Corp. scholarship is available to all graduates of any Grant County high school. This scholarship is intended for students who are pursuing degrees in engineering or science. Students must have a minimum 3.2 GPA.
G.O. & Ione Ewart
G.O. Ewart was the youngest Superintendent of Schools in Iowa at age 21 and served as a teacher and Superintendent in North Franklin School District in Washington state. Ione was a school secretary in Connell Elementary. They both touched the lives of many children. This was CBF’s first scholarship and was established for a graduating senior from Connell High School.
Gonseth Family
Mary Lou Gonseth was born and raised in Davenport on a wheat farm. She graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Home Economics and Education. Mary Lou taught Home Economics in Ephrata. Graduating seniors from Ephrata High School are eligible for this scholarship. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Harlan Irwin Memorial
This fund was established in early 2001 by former co-workers of the late Harlan Irwin. Mr. Irwin was a science teacher at Moses Lake High School for 25 years until his retirement in 1975. He went above and beyond his duties to provide learning experiences for his students. His co-workers admired and respected him. Scholarships are given to high school graduating seniors from Moses Lake High School who are pursuing careers in science-related fields.
Herb Fackenthall
This scholarship was established by Herb Fackenthall to benefit graduating seniors and graduates from Almira-Coulee Hartline High School who will be enrolling as a student in any university or college in the state of Washington. Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Howard
The Howard Scholarship was established for a graduating senior from any Grant County high school who is attending a vocational, trade or art institute. Applicants must show financial need and write an essay describing their vocational aspirations.
Irma Paz Family
Started by school employees, this fund provides scholarships to graduating seniors and graduates of Ephrata High School who are migrant or former migrant students.
Ivan Bodrero Agriculture
Ivan Bodrero was an industrious, hardworking Grant County farmer who has left a legacy for future generations. This scholarship is available to graduating seniors or graduates of any Grant County high school pursuing a degree in agriculture or sciences at any institute of higher learning. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Jack E. Jones Memorial
Jack E. Jones had a passion for farming and was a true entrepreneur who believed there was no better place to farm than the Columbia Basin. This scholarship established in his honor is available to graduating high school seniors from Quincy high school. Students must be pursuing a degree in agriculture and have a minimum of 2.0 GPA.
Jacksen O. Ashton Memorial
This scholarship was established by the Ashton family in memory of their son, Jacksen who lost his life in a car accident. This scholarship is intended for graduating seniors from Othello High School. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Jaime Krausse-Campbell Memorial
In January of 2006, Jaime Krausse-Campbell died in a helicopter accident while serving in the US Army National Guard. This scholarship for an Ephrata High School graduate was established by her parents through donations and a fundraiser sponsored by a motorcycle group (Columbia River HOGs). Students must have participated in 4-H, FFA or Rodeo. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Jeanette Marbourg
With a heart for giving back to her community, Jeanette established this fund to provide scholarships to graduating seniors and graduates of Ephrata High School. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Jeremy Chandler Memorial
This memorial fund honors Jeremy Chandler. Jeremy, the son of former Representative Gary Chandler, passed away while fighting a grass fire with the Grant County Volunteer Fire Department. This fund was created to assist graduating seniors from Moses Lake High School or Moses Lake Christian High School.
Jerry S. and June Burke
Established in 2006, this scholarship is awarded to Ephrata High School graduating seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to academics and athletics. Students must attend a college or university in Washington state.
John & Jeanette Steinmacher
The Steinmachers were civil engineers who worked for the US government on the Columbia Basin Project. They created this scholarship for Ephrata and Soap Lake graduates who are pursuing a degree in music, engineering, mathematics, or education/teaching.
John H and Mary M Lee Memorial
As business owners and community members in Ephrata, the Lee Memorial Scholarship is a legacy for John and Mary Lee for their contribution to their community. The Lee Theatre, which they owned and operated, still stands tall and is a gathering place for movies. This scholarship is intended for graduating seniors from Ephrata High School who are involved in athletics. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Kathy & Norm White
This fund provides scholarships to graduates of Quincy High School who are continuing at community colleges and trade schools in Washington State. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Lind Chamber of Commerce
This scholarship fund was started by Lind Chamber of Commerce to support Lind/Ritzville High School graduating seniors with their college academic goals. Students must have a minimum 3.3 GPA.
Margaret Fran Rowley
This scholarship was established by Margaret Fran Rowley to reward a graduating senior from ACH High School for their positive character traits, good work ethic, and community service.
Marshall D. and Marilyn S. Matthews
Mrs. Matthews wanted to honor her husband who provided free music lessons by providing this scholarship to Moses Lake Band students. Graduating seniors from Moses Lake High School who participate in the music program are eligible for this scholarship. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Marty O'Brien
This fund was established by the O’Brien Family in honor of beloved Coach Marty O’Brien, a long-time boys’ basketball and baseball coach at Ephrata High School. Mr. O’Brien was liked by everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on through this scholarship. The fund is for an Ephrata High School graduating senior who played at least one season of baseball or basketball.
Michael Osborn Memorial
Inheriting a love of books and a passion for education from his mother, Michael Osborn was a man of many interests and expertise in a variety of fields. This scholarship, established by his estate, is available to graduating seniors or graduates of Ephrata High School. This fund is intended for students pursuing studies in engineering or environmental studies. Consideration will be given to students who demonstrate financial need. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Mike Ratigan
This scholarship is intended for students who are attending a trade/vocational/career school. Students must be graduating seniors or graduates of Ephrata High School. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Moses Lake Scholar-Athlete
Established with a donation by BJ Garbe, this fund provides scholarships to graduates of Moses Lake High School who have shown a commitment to both academics and athletics. Students must have a minimum 3.2 GPA.
Naomi Hampton
This scholarship was established in memory of Naomi Hampton. Students must be entering the field of nursing or physical therapy. Preference will be given to graduating seniors or graduates of Othello High School, then to students in Warden High School or Connell High School.
Norman D. and Roxa Peters Family
With a love for music, Norman Peters devoted his time and talents to music during his life. The Norman D. and Roxa Peters Scholarship was established by Roxa Peters for Quincy High School students who have participated in music or choir during high school. Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Othello Kiwanis
Established by the Othello Kiwanis in 1999 to help students from Othello High School who demonstrate community service.
Pat Flannery Principal's Award
Established in 2000 in honor of retiring Ephrata Middle School principal Pat Flannery, this fund will provide scholarships to students who have shown improvement in attitude, behavior, and achievement. These are the qualities Mr. Flannery recognized with his annual "Principal's Awards". Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Patricia Honsowetz
Established by Rick Honsowetz, one of the founders of the Columbia Basin Foundation, this legacy scholarship honors his late wife Patricia and her passion for assisting students who have been a foster or adopted child. Students must be a graduating senior or graduate from the Moses Lake School District with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Pheasant Family
The Pheasant Family scholarship benefits students entering a technical, trade, or vocational program. It is available to any graduating senior or graduate of the Ephrata High School or Soap Lake High School, attending any institute of higher learning.
Quincy Rotary Academic
Dedicated to investing in the future of Quincy High School students, the Rotary Club of Quincy established this academic scholarship. Four scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Quincy High School attending a college or university. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Quincy Rotary Vocational
The Rotary Club of Quincy values and supports students in continuing their education and skills. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Quincy High School who is pursuing any continued education in a vocational, professional, or trade school.
Randy Boruff Baseball Memorial
The Randy Boruff Baseball Memorial Fund was established to help players of the Columbia Basin Riverdogs achieve their goals of furthering their education. Randy Boruff invested his time, talent, and love into the players and program. His legacy will continue on the field and in the classroom. Any student who has played on a Riverdogs baseball team is eligible for this scholarship.
REC Silicon
This scholarship is available to any high school student who will be graduating from a Grant County High School and going on to a university or college to study chemical or mechanical engineering, business administration, or finance/accounting. It is also available to students who are currently in the process of completing their two-year general university requirements prior to entering their major field of study. Students must have a minimum 3.3 GPA.
Samantha Webb
Established by family friends Bill & Maggie Franke, this scholarship honors Sammy's lively spirit and sunny outlook while battling with cancer. Awards are made to graduating seniors or graduates from Ephrata High School with similar spirit who plan to study the arts. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Sheets
This scholarship is for graduating seniors or graduates of any Grant County High School. Applicants must demonstrate their involvement in a church youth group or Christian organization. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Sherman Clayton Memorial
Sherman Clayton's memory lives on in this legacy scholarship. Graduating seniors from Ephrata High School who have a passion for sports and music are encouraged to apply. This scholarship was lovingly established by Sherman's family.
Spencer Gloyn Memorial
This scholarship was established in loving memory of Spencer Gloyn who passed away at a young age. The ACH Community lovingly established this scholarship to remember and honor this man who served his country and community. Any graduating senior from ACH High School can apply who has a minimum 2.5 GPA.
TJ Sortomme Memorial
Started by friends and family of TJ, the fund provides college scholarships to graduating seniors of Ephrata High School who have participated in the choral department and demonstrate the vision and goal of "Making a Difference". Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Tom & Linda Tiffany
Established in honor of Tom & Linda Tiffany who may not have been born and raised in the Columbia Basin, but made it their home for decades. Eligible students must be graduating seniors or graduates of the Moses Lake School District and majoring in the education field including teaching, special education, counseling or administration. Priority will be given to students from low-income families. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Torry Lynn & Garrett Lynn Tarrant Memorial
This fund was started by the family of Torry Lynn and Garrett Lynn Tarrant in memory of their loved ones. It is available only to students enrolling in an approved EMT Paramedic course of instruction. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Velma Foglesong Memorial
The Velma Foglesong Memorial was established in loving memory of a woman who had a heart for children. Applicants must be a graduating senior from Quincy High School and must have a minimum 2.9 GPA and attend an institution of higher learning in Washington state.
Vera Claussen Memorial
Vera Claussen was a Grant County PUD commissioner with a commitment to the Wanapum Tribe. Following her death, the family of Mrs. Claussen created this scholarship to benefit members of the Wanapum Tribe or descendants of Wanapum Tribe members who want to further their education.
Wayne L Bartelheimer Athletic Memorial
With a passion for athletics, the Wayne L. Bartelheimer Athletic Memorial Scholarship was created to assist students who are pursuing intercollegiate sports and have to be a graduating senior or graduate of an Adams or Grant County high school. Students must be involved in intercollegiate sports during their freshman year. Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
