Donor Spotlight: Jonathan Sherman

The Jonathan Sherman Memorial Music Fund was established in memory of Jonathan Sherman, an Ephrata High School graduate who passed away suddenly on December 1, 2020, at the age of 35. The purpose of this fund is to support Ephrata High School students pursuing their musical aspirations, including those who could use financial support.

Jonathan moved to Ephrata from Wilson Creek when he was in high school. He quickly immersed himself in the music department, being an adept guitar player and lover of all things related to music. In high school, Jonathan was a staple in the Performing Arts Center, playing guitar in the jazz choir band, taking independent music tech courses, and performing in multiple acts during the coveted Cabaret Night. After high school, Jonathan moved to Bellingham, Washington, where he picked up bass playing and drumming and helped manage a record store called Everyday Music. Jonathan created a tight-knit community of musicians and artists in Bellingham and became a community staple much like he did in Ephrata.

In April, this fund provided support to the Ephrata High School Jazz Band allowing them to attend the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival at the University of Idaho. A big thank you to Jonathan's family and friends for honoring him through this fund.
