Donor Spotlight: John & Jeanette Steinmacher
From water distribution to fund distribution… The Steinmachers spent their professional days designing, building and managing infrastructures. As civil engineers for the Columbia Basin Project, they were proud of the Project they helped engineer. Just as the Columbia Basin Project was built to last forever, the Steinmachers engineered an educational endowment with CBF that will go on for perpetuity. As big supporters of post-secondary education, they wanted others to have the same opportunities they were given. In 2015, the Columbia Basin Foundation was named the Steinmachers’ largest beneficiary of their estate. They created a CBF Scholarship Endowment for students to pursue their dreams of a college education - The John and Jeanette Steinmacher Scholarship Endowment Fund offers students from Ephrata and Soap Lake High Schools scholarship funds who are pursuing degrees in engineering, mathematics, music or teaching. Not only did they want to recognize graduating seniors, but those senior students can reapply during their collegiate years as long as they remain a full-time student and in good academic standing. Clearly, the Columbia Basin Foundation is honored to be managing the Steinmacher Endowment which is 1 million of educational dollars and thankful for their generous gift to our communities.
