Donor Spotlight: Becky Gillette

As an all-American girl, Becky Gillette was raised in Ephrata, Washington. On March 19, 1952, Becky was born to Robert and Maida Gillette and joined her brothers. Becky attended school in Ephrata her entire life and graduated from Ephrata High School in 1970. During high school she was a cheerleader and played tennis. Her father, Robert Gillette was the Grant County PUD Manager while her mother, Maida, devoted her life to raising four active children. She was surrounded by lots of brotherly love with 3 male siblings, Doug, Bruce and Allen. Upon graduation, she attended WSU and earned her teaching degree. While educated as a teacher, she pursued a career in the real estate relocation business. In 1979, she moved to California where she continued her real estate career. It was there she met the love of her life, Mark Dunn, and they married in 1982. The Danville Dunns completed their family after bringing two beautiful children, Caitlin and Conor, into the world.

Becky loved her family, work and community. Her interests were sewing, crafts, baking and traveling. She loved her girlfriend trips to France each year where she enjoyed one of her only extravagant indulgences, fine champagne. She also had the gift of making everyone feel like a special friend. Her amazing dedication and support were felt by all who knew her.

After a 6-year battle with breast cancer, Becky’s life was cut short on earth on December 6, 2006. This daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend with her warm and welcoming way will always be remembered with a smile. In 2020, her legacy will live on through the Becky Gillette Memorial Scholarship that has been lovingly established by her brothers, Doug and Allen Gillette. This scholarship will be for Ephrata High School Seniors pursuing higher education.
