2026 Chief for a Day

The Chief for a Day event is a heartwarming experience that honors some of our community’s most resilient and inspiring children. Through partnerships with local law enforcement and fire agencies, children facing significant medical challenges are given the opportunity to serve as honorary chiefs for a day.

Each child is paired with a participating agency and receives an honorary badge, uniform, and a behind-the-scenes look at public safety. The day typically begins with a special swearing-in ceremony, followed by activities such as exploring patrol cars, fire trucks, and learning about the tools and technology used by first responders.

More than just a day of fun, Chief for a Day fosters compassion, community connection, and support for children and families facing serious health challenges. It also builds meaningful relationships between public safety personnel and the communities they serve.

The event is a powerful reminder of the strength, courage, and resilience of these young heroes, and the impact a community can make when it comes together to celebrate them.
